NIKASHA TAWADEY

Nikasha Tawadey made her debut in the Indian fashion industry in 2006 with her eponymous label ‘Nikasha’. She stood out as one of the promising designers, a sentiment echoed internationally with her designs gracing the racks at Selfridges (London) and Macys (San Francisco). In September 2008, she was selected by IMG as one of five designers to represent India in New York and in December she was awarded the “Elle Style Award” for Contemporary India.

A self-taught designer, Nikasha’s aesthetic has been labelled as bohemian, vibrant and glam. Her Summer/Resort 2010 collection draws inspiration from the mythical Indian love story of a fragrant flower called Suili, around which Parjataka’s romance with the sun was woven. Best known for her romantic and dream-like ensembles cut in flowing and feminine silhouettes, Nikasha strikes the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary in her new summer line.
